Board cybersecurity-expertise record
MSCI: a director named with technology and cybersecurity expertise
MSCI's 2026 proxy names director Rajat Taneja, Visa's President of Technology, with technology, data and cybersecurity expertise.
MSCI's proxy statement for its 2026 annual meeting, filed March 11, 2026, lists "Technology, Data and Cybersecurity Expertise" among director Rajat Taneja's qualifications.
Taneja has served on MSCI's board since June 2021. He is currently President of Technology at Visa Inc., a role he has held since 2019, having joined Visa in 2013 as Executive Vice President of Technology and Operations. The filing says that at Visa "he oversees significant investments in technology infrastructure, cybersecurity risk and transformational initiatives," giving the board insight into MSCI's own data and technology capabilities.
Before Visa, Taneja was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Electronic Arts (2011 to 2013) and spent 1996 to 2011 at Microsoft, most recently as Corporate Vice President of its Commerce Division. He previously served on the board of Ellie Mae, Inc. (2015 to 2019) and sits on MSCI's Audit Committee.
No SEC rule requires naming a director's cybersecurity background this way: a 2022 proposal to add Item 407(j) of Regulation S-K was dropped from the SEC's final 2023 cybersecurity-disclosure rule. MSCI's proxy folds it into a broader technology-expertise designation rather than a standalone cybersecurity label. See the board cybersecurity-expertise record for other companies' disclosures, with no comparison or ranking implied.
