As of December 2024, Christopher Carter is the Chief Information Security Officer of V2X, having been named to the role in September 2024.

Career path

Before joining V2X, Carter served as a vice president at Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC).

For eight years before that appointment, he worked as a cybersecurity adviser, providing advisory services in cybersecurity, cyber-physical integration, information technology service management optimization, enterprise architectures and digital service evolution for public and private sector organizations.

Carter is also part of the Executive Certificate Holder Community maintained by MIT Management Executive Education, a network open to professionals who have completed the school's executive academies.

In September 2024, defense contractor V2X named Carter as Chief Information Security Officer.

SecurityWeek reported that in the role Carter would focus on improving threat management and defense mechanisms for the company, drawing on his experience orchestrating cyber risk management.

The University of Fairfax's Cyber Bytes publication separately reported the appointment, noting it had been announced via the executive's LinkedIn post.

Remit and published work

At V2X, Carter brings experience in leading cyber risk management and defenses against advanced persistent threats.

Carter served as primary reviewer for The Ultimate Kali Linux Book – Third Edition, by author Glen D. Singh.

The book presents passive reconnaissance, advanced penetration testing techniques and post-exploitation strategies in a progressive manner intended to make complex concepts accessible to learners, and includes a new chapter on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) covering the gathering and analysis of publicly available information.

Carter has said his review work aimed to ensure that the book's theoretical knowledge and practical labs were well balanced, giving readers both the skills and the mindset required to excel in ethical hacking and penetration testing.

Describing the author's response to his review, Carter said Singh "lauded my technical contributions, incorporating almost all of my comments, revisions, and additions into the final manuscript."
