Daniel Langley is the Chief Information Security Officer of the State of Oklahoma, appointed in October 2025.

Career path

Langley served in the U.S. Army for nearly a decade, completing his service as a captain in the Signal Corps, which designs and supports communications technologies such as satellites and video conferencing.

He was Chief Information Security Officer of the Washington state lottery from 2019 to 2023.

In 2023 he became a network security architect for Washington Technology Solutions, and he later served as acting, or interim, deputy CISO for security operations there while holding that permanent architect role.

During more than two years with Washington Technology Solutions, he introduced zero-trust and security service edge capabilities allowing secure access to applications and data from any location.

He also spent time working in the private sector before joining Oklahoma.

Langley moved to Oklahoma's Office of Management and Enterprise Services as state CISO in early October 2025, his first public-sector role in Oklahoma.

He reports to state Chief Information Officer Dan Cronin.

Remit and public statements

As Oklahoma CISO, Langley oversees security policy, infrastructure, risk management and the direction of the state's cybersecurity program within the Information Services Division of the Office of Management and Enterprise Services.

His responsibilities include the Oklahoma Cyber Command, which can respond to cybersecurity threats against the state, the state security operations center, and the Oklahoma Information Sharing and Analysis Center, which helps agencies and partners prepare for and respond to threats.

He has said his early priorities are listening to the security needs of agencies and employees, addressing vulnerabilities across systems and partners, and strengthening operational efficiency, alongside modernization, identity management improvements and building secure, scalable systems.

Marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Langley said, "The strongest cyber defenses are built before an incident ever occurs."

He has also described cybersecurity as a shared responsibility across agencies, saying no challenge exists in isolation and that collaboration supports the state's overall strategy.

In March 2026, Langley was listed among state chief information security officers participating in the Billington State and Local CyberSecurity Summit in Washington, D.C.
