Dave McKenna is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer of IDC, appointed in June 2026.

Career path

Earlier in his career, McKenna held the role of Vice President of Information Technology and CISO at Upland Capital Group, where he had full accountability for building the insurance company's technology, operational, and regulatory functions from the ground up.

In 2021, Analytics Insight named McKenna one of its 10 Most Influential CISOs to Watch for that work.

He has worked across both government and private-sector organizations during his career.

Before joining IDC, McKenna served as Vice President of Platform Engineering and Chief Information Security Officer at Monster.

IDC's chief executive, Lorenzo Larini, named McKenna to the company's executive leadership team alongside a new Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Technology Officer as part of a broader C-suite expansion.

That expansion followed Larini's own arrival as CEO earlier in the year.

Remit at IDC

At IDC, McKenna oversees the company's IT operations and cybersecurity functions, along with its enterprise AI automation and modernization program.

His background spans data architecture, risk management, and cybersecurity leadership across financial services, insurance, and government sectors.

He holds a Ph.D. in Information Technologies from Capella University and an M.S. in IT Management from Brandeis University, along with CISM, CDPSE, and PMP certifications.
