Frank Krieger is the Chief Information Security Officer of Swap, appointed in September 2026.
Career path
Before joining Swap, Krieger served as Chief Information Security Officer at Mambu, a SaaS cloud banking platform that designs and builds financial offerings for banks, lenders, fintechs, retailers and telcos.
Earlier in his career, he led trust and reputation at Miro and governance, risk, and compliance at iland Cloud.
Commentary on open finance and banking technology
While CISO at Mambu, Krieger took part in a published discussion with Hexaware's Peter-Jan Van de Venn on the adoption of open finance in banking, covering the shift from legacy infrastructure toward API-first and composable architectures. He noted that established banks face significant challenges adapting to these advancements, since the cost of updating legacy systems can place older institutions at a disadvantage against more agile competitors. In the same discussion, Krieger pointed to consumer education as a central barrier to adoption, noting that people need confidence their data is secure and that they retain control over how it is shared. He cited Mambu survey findings that 52% of banking customers were unaware of open banking, and that more than half of those aware of it expressed concerns about security and privacy. Krieger also discussed incoming PSD3 rules, including API enhancements, simplified authentication, and IBAN and name reconciliation for risk and verification, arguing these changes need to be clearly communicated to consumers. "Education is holding the evolution of open finance, and arguably the industry, back," he said.
Published work
Krieger authored an article on The pros and cons for AI in financial sector cybersecurity, published in Security Magazine on February 1, 2024, examining how the financial sector has used artificial intelligence to mitigate fraud.
