Compiled 27 September 2026 from public records. Each statement below is drawn from the sources listed at the end.

Gwen Gann has been named the next state chief information security officer at Washington Technology Solutions, the technology office of Washington state government.

Career path

Gann arrives at WaTech from the private sector after more than two decades in technology leadership. Her last private-sector post before joining state government was technology director at HealthFirst, a hospital-products company. Before that, she spent more than six years as chief information officer at Public Partnerships LLC, a financial-management services company, in addition to leading IT organizations, integrating technology environments and managing technology programs across health and human services and financial-management organizations earlier in her career. Neither source reviewed names her employers before those two postings, and neither states where she earned her education.

GovTech reported that her first day in the new role was a Wednesday in the middle of September 2026.

Scope of the office

As State CISO, Gann will oversee Washington's Office of Cybersecurity, which sets the state's cybersecurity strategy and protects state government networks from cyber threats, and which also provides monitoring services, responds to cyberattacks, helps agencies strengthen their networks, and provides incident-response support. The office also works with state, local and military partners on cybersecurity and conducts public education and outreach on online threats.

GovTech's account adds that Gann will set strategic direction in partnership with WaTech and state agencies, and continue to build collaboration across the state with local government and federal security partners.

In her own public comment on taking the job, Gann said: "meaningful transformation is possible, even when the challenges are complex, the systems are deeply established, or the path forward isn't obvious."

Neither source reviewed sets out a full list of her earlier employers before HealthFirst and Public Partnerships, and neither gives an exact calendar date for her first day beyond naming the day of the week.
