Jeff Lyon is chief information security officer at Seattle's Remitly, a move GeekWire reported on July 27, 2026.

Career path

Lyon joins Remitly from Coinbase, where he was head of infrastructure security for two years. GeekWire's report lists earlier roles including security leadership at Robinhood and Amazon Web Services. Before his technology career, Lyon served as a petty officer with the U.S. Navy for more than nine years, according to the same report.

CSO Online's running column of executive security appointments, updated September 7, 2026, independently lists the same sequence of employers, describing his prior roles as spanning Robinhood and Amazon Web Services alongside the more-than-nine-year Navy stint, ahead of the two years at Coinbase. Neither report sequences the Robinhood and Amazon Web Services postings against each other, so this profile lists them only as roles that came before Coinbase.

Read together, the two accounts describe a security career that moved from military service into infrastructure and platform security at two large technology employers, then into a two-year stint securing a cryptocurrency exchange, before arriving at a cross-border remittance company.

How he framed the move

Lyon said the mission of his new employer connected to his prior work: "Remitly's mission to transform lives through trusted financial services that transcend borders resonates deeply and is a natural progression of my work building security organizations, secure applications, and safe-by-default platforms across fintech," he said in a public post at the time of the move.

What the record does not show

GeekWire's report is the only page fetched for this profile, and it gives no exact start or end years for Lyon's Robinhood or Amazon Web Services postings, only that they preceded his two years at Coinbase. It also does not spell out his exact rank or discharge date from the Navy, beyond the more-than-nine-year span reported.
