Career profile
Jerry R. Geisler III
Executive Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, Walmart
- Current role, per sources checked 27 September 2026
- Not stated in the sources
Jerry R. Geisler III is Walmart's executive vice president and chief information security officer; Walmart's leadership page lists him in that seat, though none of the sources reviewed gives the date he was named to it.
Career path
Geisler's route into the job started in uniform: the company biography describes him as a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
After his service he studied criminology and organizational management at undergraduate level, then took a master's in ethics and leadership and an MBA from John Brown University.
His executive education includes programs at the Harvard Kennedy School in cybersecurity and policy and at Carnegie Mellon University's CISO Institute.
The bulk of his career has been spent inside one employer. When Team8 announced his board appointment in July 2023, it said he brought more than 30 years of experience at Walmart, where he was leading the information security team as CISO.
The individual steps between his first Walmart role and the top security seat are not set out in any official source we found, so this profile does not list them.
Scope of the seat
Walmart describes the job as covering data security for millions of customers and associates, plus the security strategy, engineering, operations, testing and assessment, services, risk and compliance for the whole enterprise.
The program he leads spans AI, IT, industrial control systems, cloud, platform and product security, according to the same page.
Public work
Outside Walmart, Geisler joined the enterprise board of Team8, the Tel Aviv venture group, in July 2023.
At the time he framed security as shared work across companies: “The information security industry is a community that benefits from sharing best practices and research so we can work together to curb threats.”
His SparkCon speaker page adds that he sits on the program committee of the Executive Security Action Forum and takes part in Security 50 and the Corporate Research Board.
On April 1, 2026 he was scheduled for two SparkCon sessions, one on mentorship and career paths in cybersecurity and a fireside chat on retailers cooperating against shared threats.
That collaborative theme, visible in both the Team8 statement and the retail fireside chat, is the clearest thread in his public record.
