Jim Hart is the Chief Information Security Officer of Paymentology, appointed in April 2025.

Career path

Hart joined Paymentology, a global issuer-processor based in London, from GENII Software Group (GSG) in Germany, where he served as Group Chief Information Security Officer.
In that role he led security initiatives across more than 100 legal entities and 3,000 employees, aligning cybersecurity efforts with risk management, incident response and regulatory compliance. Earlier in his career he held senior security positions at Pollinate International, CyberProof, Symantec, AlixPartners and Integralis.
Hart's early work in security was concentrated at a technical level, covering firewalls, network traffic and infrastructure controls, which he has described as giving him a close attention to detail and a curiosity about why attacks happen rather than only how they happen. In 2022, he contributed to public discussion on payment fraud as a member of Finextra Research, writing on contactless card fraud and the use of GSM point-of-sale processing.

Remit at Paymentology

At Paymentology, Hart is responsible for security strategy across a business that spans multiple continents and operates in markets with differing threat profiles, from PAN data misuse in eCommerce fraud to continued use of magstripe technology. He describes his approach as centred on understanding attacker intent and the economics behind fraud rather than reacting to individual incidents. "It's about understanding the intent—what's the business model behind these attacks, and what's the actual threat to us?" he says. He has said that security conversations should begin at the earliest stages of product design, an approach intended to make security considerations part of planning rather than a late-stage check. Hart works across departments including People and Legal to align employee access, hardware use and contractual data-protection obligations with regulatory frameworks. He has also described the CISO's role as that of a strategic leader offering governance, guidance and consultation across business units, rather than one focused only on technical implementation. Paymentology's chief executive, Jeff Parker, said Hart's experience in cybersecurity and risk management in the fintech and banking sectors would help strengthen the company's security standards as it expands globally.
