Kent Goodrow is the Chief Information Security Officer of Systems Engineering, appointed in February 2024. Systems Engineering describes itself as the premier managed technology services provider in New England, serving clients from offices in Portland, Maine, and Manchester, New Hampshire.

Career path

Goodrow joined Systems Engineering in 2012 and held a series of technical, professional, and leadership roles over more than a decade at the firm. In his role immediately before becoming CISO, he worked as Account Executive, counseling enterprise clients on complex IT-related risk and compliance needs. He brings more than 18 years of experience in IT management and security. Systems Engineering named him Chief Information Security Officer in February 2024, citing his understanding of the firm's operations and of clients' cyber and operational requirements.

Goodrow holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from St. Lawrence University and, as of his appointment, was pursuing a Master's in Cybersecurity Management at Southern New Hampshire University. He holds a NIST CSF Lead Implementer certification and a Certified Cybersecurity credential from ISC2, and he is described as a Certified Information Security, Cyber-AB, and ISC2 professional.

Remit and public commentary

In the CISO role, Goodrow is responsible for driving the strategic direction of Systems Engineering's security needs and those of its clients, with a focus on embedding security into company processes, client trust, and the integrity of the firm's platforms and supply chain. Systems Engineering has also positioned itself as a provider pursuing advanced compliance frameworks, including NIST CSF alignment and the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification, under his leadership.

Describing his approach on taking the role, Goodrow said his focus "will be to ensure that Systems Engineering not only stays ahead of emerging threats but also sets new benchmarks and standards for managed service security."

Goodrow writes for the Systems Engineering blog under the banner From the Desk of the CISO, including a post on multifactor authentication and Microsoft 365 passwords published in August 2026, and an earlier piece on Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification compliance published in January 2025. He is scheduled to speak at a Credit Union Economic & Investment Summit in May 2026, addressing the practical side of cyber governance, what boards and executives should be asking, and how to align cybersecurity strategy with institutional risk management.
