Nitin Raina is the Global Chief Information Security Officer of Thoughtworks.

Career path

He brings more than 25 years of experience in IT, security and risk leadership. At Thoughtworks he serves as Chief Information Security Officer, focusing on embedding security into every stage of technology delivery for clients and the business. In February 2023, as Thoughtworks' Chief Information Security Officer, he joined the Cyber Future Foundation's live global dialogue held alongside the Cyber Future Dialogue event in Davos, Switzerland, where he shared views on the cyber security capabilities needed to support remote working, building security-aware teams, and best practices for delivering secure products. In November 2025, as Thoughtworks' Global CISO, he was named the 2025 Chicago CISO of the Year, recognized in the mid-cap category for organizations with less than $4 billion in revenue.

Remit and programs

In his role, Raina leads Thoughtworks' global information security, enterprise risk and business continuity programs. His mandate is to prioritize and balance security, technology and risk considerations in ways that enable trusted client partnerships while protecting the enterprise. He and his team developed the company's Business-Centric Security Maturity Model and a global Security Champions Program, frameworks intended to make security a shared responsibility among employees. Under his guidance, Thoughtworks' security programs won the Foundry's CSO50 Award in 2023 and the CSO Award in 2024, and he was also a finalist for the 2025 Chicago CISO ORBIE Awards.

In his own words

On receiving the Chicago CISO of the Year honor, Raina said, "We've worked hard to move beyond traditional security silos, embedding a “shift-left" approach that has strengthened the company's internal posture and become a key competitive advantage for Thoughtworks."
