Raj Umadas is the Chief Information Security Officer of RAD Security, appointed in October 2025.
Career path
Umadas has led security efforts at companies including Spotify, Squarespace, Etsy, and ActBlue Technical Services.
Those organizations, as described in his appointment announcement, deliver millions of minutes of music, power millions of websites, process millions of donations, and support millions of storefronts.
At ActBlue Technical Services he held the title of Director of Security, leading the team responsible for securing the organization's Kubernetes-based donation platform.
He had served as an advisor to RAD Security since 2022 before his appointment as CISO, a newly created role at the company.
RAD Security, a provider of AI-powered cloud and AI protection, announced the appointment following its Series A funding round and a rapid expansion of its engineering team.
Remit at RAD Security
As CISO, Umadas oversees internal security, risk, and trust functions at RAD Security while contributing directly to product and customer strategy. The company has said he will play a strategic role in meeting customer expectations while helping shape the direction of its AI-native security operations.
Securing Kubernetes at ActBlue
In his earlier role at ActBlue, Umadas described his team's approach as advising business teams on risk and then implementing mitigations such as secure defaults and accurate detections. He said the team selected a Kubernetes-native security tool so that security engineers and infrastructure engineers could use the same technical language during design and implementation of its Kubernetes environments. He also described wanting a way to prioritize Kubernetes risk through threat vectors, so his team could quickly assess which misconfigurations were relevant to the organization. "Working with RAD Security is awesome, they take my input seriously and it feels very collaborative," Umadas said. He said he continued to find the work of securing the ActBlue platform aligned with his personal values.
