As of January 2024, Talha Tariq is the Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer of HashiCorp, appointed in January 2024. In the role, he reports to HashiCorp CEO Dave McJannet. Career path

Early in his career, Tariq worked in security engineering and research at Microsoft, focusing on cryptography, hypervisor and cloud security. He also held security leadership positions at NCR. Tariq served as Director of Security Consulting at PwC, advising clients across industries on data breaches, hacking events, security program development and threat assessments. He went on to serve as Chief Information Security Officer at Anki, where he was responsible for corporate information security, product and application security, privacy engineering, security operations and incident response. Tariq also served as CISO at FinancialForce.
He joined HashiCorp as Chief Security Officer on May 1, 2019. By November 2021 his title was Vice President and Chief Security Officer at HashiCorp. In January 2024, HashiCorp promoted him to Chief Information Officer and Chief Security Officer.

He advises security startups and has worked with clients across a range of industries on matters including data breaches, intellectual property theft, hacking events, forensic investigations, security program development, security operations, and threat and vulnerability assessments.
In November 2021 he joined the CISO Advisory Board of Torq, a no-code security automation company, to help steer product direction and thought leadership. On taking the expanded HashiCorp role, Tariq said, "I'm excited to take on this new role at HashiCorp, which will enable us to continue to deliver innovative and secure solutions to our customers around the world."
