Career path

Thompson began his security career as a government contractor supporting the U.S. federal government, working in highly classified environments that gave him a foundation in securing technology, building rigorous processes, and meeting strict compliance standards. He then moved into the private sector, where he worked with organizations adopting new technologies to protect sensitive data and reduce risk, an experience he has said grew into a focus on building, maturing, and enhancing security programs. Across more than 25 years in cybersecurity and technology leadership, he held senior roles at Ernst & Young, RSM, Cognizant, and Thrivent Financial, with work spanning financial services, healthcare, education, and consulting.
He joined Luma from Guidepoint Security, where he served as a Field Chief Information Security Officer.
