Jaya Baloo is the COO & CISO of AISLE.

Career path

Baloo studied Political Science and International Relations at Tufts University while spending much of her free time teaching herself computing and telecommunications. Her first job in the field was as an internet security trainer at Bankers Trust, where she worked on export cryptography problems for high net worth customers. She then worked at France Telecom as a Technical Security Specialist.
She moved to Verizon, where she held the position of Practice Lead for Lawful Interception.
Baloo went on to become Chief Information Security Officer at KPN, the largest telecommunications carrier in the Netherlands, where she established and led its security team.
Avast announced her appointment as Chief Information Security Officer on July 12, 2019, effective October 1, 2019. She later held Chief Information Security Officer and Chief Security Officer titles at Rapid7, a Boston-based company. She now holds the combined role of COO & CISO at AISLE.

Boards, recognition and teaching

Baloo serves on the advisory boards of the Netherlands' National Cyber Security Centre, TIIN Capital and NOS, and on the EU Quantum Flagship. She has also sat on the boards of PQCrypto and Flagship Strategic, the audit committee of TIIN Capital, and the IT Committee of Sociale Verzekeringsbank. She has been named to lists of the top 100 CISOs and top 100 security influencers globally, and Inspiring Fifty selected her as one of the 50 most inspiring women in the Netherlands in 2019.
In 2022 the University of Twente awarded her an honorary doctorate for her contributions to cybersecurity. She has been a faculty member of Singularity University since 2017, where she regularly lectures.

Talks and published work

Baloo has spoken at RSA, TEDx and Codemotion on lawful interception, VoIP and mobile security, cryptography, and quantum communications networks.
In 2026 she was announced as a keynote speaker for the ISC2 Security Congress in Denver, where organizers said she would address the risks of advanced AI models alongside the arrival of quantum computing capable of breaking current encryption. In an interview published by Help Net Security, she examined the debate over restricting access to cyber-capable AI models, arguing that policymakers misread how attackers and defenders operate and that limiting access can widen the gap between well-resourced organizations and everyone else. On building security teams, Baloo has said, "A great team isn't made by one person or even a great leader," pointing instead to overall team cohesion and diversity of thought as what makes a team effective.
