Patrick McKinney is the Chief Information Security Officer of Turing, appointed in September 2026. He leads the company's global security strategy as Turing scales its work with frontier AI labs and enterprises in regulated industries.
Career path
Earlier in his career, McKinney held security and compliance roles at Dropbox and Coinbase, where he was part of the teams that helped guide both companies through their public offerings. He served as vice president of security and IT at Invisible Technologies, where he was the company's first dedicated security hire and built its security organization from the ground up to support some of the world's largest companies. He joined Turing as Chief Information Security Officer, a move announced by the company in September 2026.
Remit at Turing
As CISO, McKinney oversees security across Turing's frontier AI and enterprise AI businesses. Turing describes itself as a superintelligence accelerator headquartered in San Francisco that helps frontier AI labs improve model capabilities and helps Fortune 500 enterprises build, deploy and scale agentic AI systems. That work spans clients across financial services, life sciences, healthcare, retail and automotive, which the company says creates a broad range of security, compliance and data protection requirements for McKinney's team to address.
On AI and security
Commenting on his new role, McKinney said, "It gives security teams powerful new capabilities to monitor and respond to threats at scale, while giving adversaries access to capabilities they've never had before." He added that as AI continues to advance, security has an important role to play in enabling its potential across industries. Turing's internal newsletter marked his arrival as a milestone for the company, welcoming him alongside coverage of its other research work that week.
