As of March 2025, Phillip Miller is the Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer of H&R Block, appointed effective March 31, 2025.

Career path

Miller founded the cybersecurity consulting firm Qurple, LLC, where he worked as an advisor and consultant for numerous companies before joining H&R Block.

Before founding Qurple, he held Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer roles at NetApp and Brooks Brothers.

Earlier in his career, Miller served as a Principal Security Advisor at Amazon Web Services, where he advised financial services, health services, financial technology, and investment management companies on secure cloud computing and compliance strategies.

The Kansas City Business Journal described Miller as a former AWS executive hired by H&R Block to lead its cybersecurity efforts.

H&R Block announced his hiring on March 25, 2025, with an effective start date of March 31.

He holds a UK law degree, is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and actively participates in privacy, ethics, and technology law forums.
