Dale Hoak is the Chief Information Security Officer of RegScale, appointed in July 2025.

Career path

Hoak joined RegScale as the company's first security hire, one of its earliest employees, and was recruited to build a comprehensive, business-aligned information security program as the company grew from a pre-Series A startup into a fast-scaling vendor.

Before his promotion to CISO he held the title of Director of Information Security at RegScale.

Earlier in his career Hoak served in the U.S. Navy, where he designed secure, mission-critical systems.

His public-sector work included cybersecurity leadership roles in the Department of Defense, where he managed operations for the largest Network Operations Center, led disaster recovery and business continuity planning, oversaw rapid deployment of communication packages for Navy SEAL Teams, and created training programs for system administrators.

RegScale promoted Hoak to Chief Information Security Officer in July 2025, after he led the team through the company's FedRAMP High authorization.

Building RegScale's security program

Under his leadership, RegScale achieved SOC 2 Type 2, FedRAMP High, and CSA STAR certifications.

He architected RegScale's end-to-end security framework and built a 24/7/365 Security Operations Center.

As CISO he leads all aspects of RegScale's cybersecurity strategy, risk management, compliance, and resilience efforts.

He has also become an advocate for Continuous Controls Monitoring within the CISO community.

"I'm thankful for the opportunity to work alongside such a talented and dedicated team and remain committed to representing this incredible group of people and being a champion for RegScale as we continue to grow and lead the industry," Hoak said.

Talks and published work

Hoak took part in an ISC2 fireside chat, The FedRAMP Fast Track: Automating Your Way to Rapid Certification, sponsored by RegScale, on December 4, 2024.

He writes for the RegScale blog on compliance and risk topics, including How CISOs Can Build Board Confidence in Cyber Risk, How We Earned CMMC Level 2 by Operating Securely 90% Faster, and Compliance and Confidence: What a New Report Says About Continuous Assurance.

Earlier posts of his cover RegScale's admission to the CSA STAR registry and the top GRC challenges facing financial institutions.
