Robert Huber is the chief security officer of Tenable, where he also serves as head of research and president of Tenable Public Sector, LLC.
Career path
Before Tenable, Huber held cyber security roles across the financial, defense, critical infrastructure and technology sectors, accumulating more than 25 years of experience in the field.
He served as chief security architect for JP Morgan Chase, as an OT security researcher at Idaho National Laboratory and as a member of the Lockheed Martin CIRT.
Huber then co-founded Critical Intelligence, an OT threat intelligence and solutions provider, where he was president; cyber threat intelligence firm iSIGHT Partners acquired the company in 2015.
He went on to become chief security and strategy officer at Eastwind Networks before joining Tenable.
Alongside his industry career, Huber served in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard for more than 22 years, retiring in 2021 after providing offensive and defensive cyber capabilities supporting the National Security Agency, United States Cyber Command and state missions.
At Tenable, he oversees the company's global security and research teams, working cross-functionally to reduce risk to the organization, its customers and the broader industry.
Public talks and published work
Huber appeared on the initial list of keynote speakers announced for RSA Conference 2023, held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from April 24-27, 2023, alongside other industry leaders.
At a later RSA Conference, he spoke as part of the session What To Do When Ransomware Hits: Simulation for CEOs, CISOs and Directors.
In an August 2026 Tenable blog post, Huber discussed how the company's shift to an AI-driven exposure management program helped him overcome tool sprawl, unify data silos, mitigate the risk of rapid AI adoption, and move from presenting granular technical metrics to communicating business risk that the C-suite and board can understand.
Huber was also interviewed for Tenable's Cyber Exposure Podcast series, in an episode titled Interview with Tenable CSO Bob Huber.
His earlier work for Tenable included contributions to the study The Rise of the Business-Aligned Security Executive and an accompanying white paper, What It Takes to Be a Business-Aligned Cybersecurity Leader.
