Career path

Early in his career Ford served as security response manager for Zynga Inc and held positions with Rapid7 Inc, McAfee, and WhiteHat Security.

He also served as general manager of the Black Hat hacking conference.

In June 2016 Ford joined Salesforce.com Inc's Heroku unit as head of trust, responsible for cybersecurity and reliability of the cloud platform.

He went on to serve as Chief Information Security Officer and Head of Trust for Heroku at Salesforce.

Ford later served as Deputy CISO at Vista Equity Partners, where he worked on diligence and cyber risk management for companies in acquisition, integration, growth, and exits.

He has also held strategic advisory and global consulting roles.

In April 2024, Ford joined Deepwatch as Chief Information Security Officer, leading the company's Security and Information Technology teams and partnering with its customer community.

He later served as Bugcrowd's CISO of the Americas and was a longtime member of the company's advisory board before moving into his current role.

He holds a Master of Science from the University of Texas at Austin and completed executive education at Harvard Business School.

Ford presented the Black Hat webinar Changing Face of Big Hunting on May 14, 2026.

His work has drawn on the OWASP Application Security Verification Standard and related initiatives aimed at supporting responsible software vendors.

Ford has more than 25 years of experience across offensive and defensive security disciplines, including program leadership in incident response, fraud and abuse, public cloud, application, network, and platform security.
