Before that, he held the role of business information security officer at eBay.
He also held senior leadership positions with managed security providers Securonix, a company focused on SIEM, UEBA, security analytics and detection for the Global 2000, and Alert Logic, one of the early SaaS-enabled managed detection and response providers.
Across these roles he spent more than 20 years in security and compliance leadership.
Apptega announced his appointment as CISO on February 29, 2024, noting that he would run internal security and help guide partner compliance practices for the managed-security-provider-focused software company.
His hiring came alongside a series of other executive additions at Apptega, including a new chief technology officer, chief product officer and chief people officer in the months that followed.
Remit and public statements
At Apptega, Lewis is responsible for internal security operations and for helping steer partner compliance best practices across the company's base of managed security providers.
He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional.
Describing his approach to compliance, Lewis said, "We have an incredible opportunity to transform the mindset about compliance from a check-the-box exercise to a state of continuous scoring and improvement where security is always at the forefront,"
He added that he joined Apptega because of its positioning to pair a continuous compliance approach with its partner ecosystem.
Apptega has said his experience running security and compliance from the managed-security-provider side gives him a client's perspective that shapes how the company engages partners.
